A documentary series drawing comparisons to the hit show 24 Hours in Police Custody is now available for streaming on BBC iPlayer. The popular programme, which airs on Channel 4, follows the window officers have to either charge or release a suspect.

With ten series already broadcast and viewers clamouring for more, a new BBC show added to the streaming platform provides an alternative. Murder 24/7 explores multiple cases from the moment of the 999 call right through to conviction in court, whilst also examining the process of gathering and analysing forensic evidence.

Additionally, the programme shows in real-time how potential suspects are identified. Two series of Murder 24/7 are currently available on BBC iPlayer, with the first series investigating two cases and the second covering three.

In a Reddit thread where fans of 24 Hours in Police Custody discuss similar series to watch online, one user wrote: “Murder 24/7 is excellent and on iPlayer.”

Another chimed in: “You should watch Murder 24/7 on BBC!”, reports the Express. A third offered an insider’s view, stating: “Having been filmed as part of Murder 24/7, it’s pretty accurate. I definitely wouldn’t say it’s scripted, it’s filming a live investigation.

“There’s plenty of double & triple takes, asking to repeat things if it’s not caught on camera etc. With heavy edits for various things to make the shows more watchable for the public.”

One episode focuses on the investigation into the murder of 23 year old delivery worker Aurman Singh in Shrewsbury. The announcement follows the BBC’s recent reveal of a new six-part documentary series from the same production company responsible for the successful factual franchise Murder 24/7.

Emergency 24/7 is filmed inside the Emergency Department at Southmead Hospital in Bristol, one of Britain’s major trauma centres. The programme provides an immersive glimpse into the intense daily pressures experienced by medical teams as they treat patients in life-threatening situations.

Rachael Barnes, Executive Producer, said “Emergency 24/7 offers unprecedented insight into what it truly means to work at the coalface of the NHS today.

“With extraordinary access and the trust of frontline ED staff, the series places viewers right inside the pressure of the emergency department, witnessing life-saving decisions and calculations in real time.”

Colin Barr, Creative Director of Factual at Expectation, added: “The success of Murder 24/7 with viewers made us realise that we could use the same dynamic and immersive style to deliver forensic storytelling in a different world: the world of an Emergency Department.

“We’re thrilled to be extending the 24/7 brand together with the BBC, and hope that Emergency 24/7 grips and informs audiences in the same way that Murder 24/7 did.”

Murder 24/7 is available to stream on BBC iPlayer now.
