Bolton area man charged over heroin and cannabis offences

The man was arrested in Haslingden before being charged with offences involving heroin and cannabis, Lancashire Police said.

The charges include being concerned in the supply of Class A heroin and Class B cannabis.

He was also charged with possessing heroin and cannabis with intent to supply.

The charges followed an investigation by the Rural Task Force, which said the man was arrested by officers in Haslingden.

Police also revealed two other investigations had resulted in charges against men arrested elsewhere in the area.

A man from Rochdale, who was arrested in Whitworth, was charged with offences involving cannabis resin and criminal property.

The Rural Task Force also said a man had been charged over the theft of an Ifor Williams trailer worth £3,500.

The trailer was reportedly stolen from Bacup in June, with the suspect identified and charged after being arrested in West Yorkshire.

The force also carried out Fatal Five operations at several roads across the area this week.

These included Haslingden Old Road, Rawtenstall, Burnley Road East, Water and Broadfield in Oswaldtwistle.

Nine drivers were reported for allegedly driving at excess speed during the operations.

One further driver was reported for summons after allegedly travelling at 50mph in a 30mph zone.

Police said speeding remained a high priority concern raised by residents and was also a contributor to road traffic collisions.
