Cello by Collectibles announces February 22 closing date
The last day of trading for Cello by Collectibles is Sunday February 22.
The store, which opened in the former Game York, has already announced its closing down sale.
As the Press previously reported, the site has planning approval to be converted into a restaurant, a proposal that will also include the adjoining William Hill betting shop.

The redevelopment would see The Works at the adjoining 6 Church Street continue trading, but with an upgraded frontage.
Cello by Collectibles group area manager Lynn Dickinson told the Press: “The landlord is changing the use of the premises. I believe its going to be a restaurant.

“We are actively looking for another site in York but it is difficult. We have really loved been in York. It’s a great city. That is why we would love to stay.
“Because our timescale is so tight we need to get rid of the stock as soon as soon as we can. We have a great team there, four have been with us all the time.”
“Obviously, we cannot place them anywhere else our nearest store is Leeds. We have 9 stores, mainly in the northeast, but fingers crossed Cello by Collectibles will see all our York customers again.”

When plans were submitted to City of York Council last May to convert the site, applicant St Bride’s White Rose LLP, who also own the building, said they were “at an advanced stage of discussions which will see the ground floor units of 4-5 Church Street and 26 Swinegate converted to restaurant use and occupied by a prominent name in the UK’s dining scene.”
