Hearts still have a one-point lead at the summit following no shortage of midweek controversy and are bidding to become the first non-Old Firm side to lift the trophy since Sir Alex Ferguson’s Aberdeen back in 1984/85.

Derek McInnes is on the brink of making history for the Edinburgh club in his first term in charge, having moved to Tynecastle in May last year.

Martin O’Neill’s Hoops, meanwhile, have stuttered in their latest title defence after a season of instability.

Brendan Rodgers started the campaign in-post before leaving in October, and O’Neill stepped in as an interim until December before Wilfried Nancy’s short and miserable tenure.

Upstairs, Celtic also saw chairman Peter Lawwell step down, as he was replaced by interim Brian Wilson, the former Scottish Labour MP.

Celtic vs Hearts prediction

There is just one point in it, with Hearts still in control of their own destiny going into the final day.

A point for McInnes’ men and they are Scottish top-flight champions for the first time since 1959/60.

Celtic have all of the winning pedigree, however, and also have crucial home advantage.

Might that be a crucial turning point in the title race?
