Officers spoke to one of the children present who described feeling ‘scared’
A child was left “feeling scared” after a report of a man allegedly “hitting a woman”. Earlier this week, a member of the public called Cambridgeshire Police and reported seeing a man hitting a woman while she was holding a child.
Officers attended and the woman described the incident as “just an argument”, according to Cambridgeshire Police. But officers continued to investigate.
A spokesperson for the force said: “As part of their enquiries, they spoke to one of the children present, who described hearing shouting and said it had left them feeling scared.”
An assault investigation has now been launched and a man was arrested. He has since been released on bail with strict conditions while enquiries continue, the force confirmed.
The spokesperson for the force added: “Children can be deeply impacted by what they see, hear and experience domestic abuse. If you witness behaviour that doesn’t seem right, trust your instincts and report it. Your actions could help safeguard both an adult and a child from harm.
