Coronation Street issues update on Audrey as Sue Nicholls remains missing from screens | Soaps
Coronation Street fans have been wondering where Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) has been recently, with the Weatherfield icon not having appeared on screen since November, 2025.
The matriarch of the Platt clan, who first appeared on the street in 1979, has been missing in action for a number of months now, with our last update on her revealing that she was off on holiday.
Amid the drama of Shona Platt’s (Julia Goulding) missing wedding ring, Sarah (Tina O’Brien) called Gail (Helen Worth) to update her, while making her promise not to relay the situation to Audrey, not wanting to spoil her holiday.
On yesterday’s (April 16) episode, David also gave Gail a bell to wish her a happy birthday.
While doing so, he added ‘give my love to gran’, suggesting that Audrey’s travels continue, and she’s made her way to France to spend some time with her daughter, who’s hopefully enjoying a far less dramatic life than she did in Weatherfield, having traded in serial killer husbands and demonic offspring for baguettes and brie.
Back on the cobbles, things are as torturous as ever for the members of the Platt family.
Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) has been deeply involved in ex boyfriend turned bestie Todd Grimshaw’s (Gareth Pierce) harrowing domestic abuse plot at the hands of Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), eager to save and support him as he navigates his escape from his torturous relationship.
Big brother Ben Price (Nick Tilsley) has been dealing with the emotional and psychological fall out of his son, Sam Blakeman’s (Jude Riordan) mental torture at the hands of paedophile, Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon), after he discovered that she was sexually abusing Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale).
Meanwhile, Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) has had a much quieter time of it recently, though actress Lucy recently revealed that she has a big plot coming up, which could potentially see her character upset viewers, saying: ‘I can’t tell you what it is, but it’s not going to be great.
‘I don’t think people are going to be happy about it. This one is low-key her fault. Everyone is going to be like, ‘She is a d**k.’ Which is fine.’
Perennially dramatic David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) and wife Shona have also had an incredibly dramatic year.
Following the news that their pregnancy came with great risks, as the baby had developed a mass on her neck. Doctors explained that there was a procedure they could undertake, but it came with sizeable risks. Though David was firmly against the idea, with the thought of losing Shona too painful, she was determined to go ahead with it, though the choice was eventually ripped from her hands.

In the aftermath of the Corriedale crash, Shona went into premature labour, while David’s epilepsy reared it’s head as he suffered a seizure.
Perhaps the scariest thing to come out of the ordeal, though, was the emergence of Shona’s long lost sister, Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown), who’s twisted and devious nature continues to become more and more apparent as time goes on.
While evidently attempting to destroy Shona and David’s marriage, she’s been playing games with various street residents and collecting a myriad of ‘prizes’ from her victims, storing them in a creepy trinket box.
With her family still wrapped up in their various dramas, perhaps it’s best if Audrey stays in France for a while…
