The actress previously made the admission during a public appearance at the Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester.

During the on-stage interview, she reflected on her time playing Gail Rodwell, later Platt, and explained that fatigue set in as she approached her final year on the show.

Worth told The Sun: “It was only a bit towards the end when I got a bit tired.

“But the first, how many years? 49 years were a dream.”

She also spoke fondly of her characters’ final storyline, which saw Gail leave Weatherfield on Christmas Day 2024.

Ms Worth said: “My final husband, John Thomson, was absolutely gorgeous to me, because by then I was rattling a bit.

“It was around about 4,000 episodes and I was rattling a little bit.

“And he was very sweet.”

Worth said: “I didn’t want it to ever change because I just kept loving it.

“I mean, there’s not many actors can say that.”

She also addressed the demands of modern TV production, agreeing with host Julie Hesmondhalgh (who played Hayley Cropper) that the filming schedule had become chaotic in her final years.

She said filming often jumped between different storylines and time frames in a single day.

Gail’s final scenes saw her marrying Jesse Chadwick and leaving for a new life in France, with the Platt family gathering to say goodbye.

Previously discussing her exit, Worth said: “This year felt like the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world.

“I made the decision at the start of the year and spoke to the producers who were very kind and understanding.”
