Danby Wiske, near Northallerton, will come alive this weekend with its Yorkshire Beer Festival, a two-day event raising funds for the village hall.

The festival begins on Friday evening (April 24) and will showcase a record number of beers, lagers, and ciders, along with wines, spirits, and cocktails.

Adrian Farmer, chair of the village hall committee, said: “We quite can’t believe this is our seventh festival.

“The event has grown each year while also still keeping its character as a village event.

“Support from a record number of barrel sponsors has been magnificent and we receive so much help from a number of individuals and partners in our community.”

The line-up features more than 29 cask beers, two lagers, and five ciders from 19 local breweries and cider makers.

Four low- or no-alcohol options will also be on offer, alongside gins, wine, prosecco, cocktails, and mocktails.

Hot food will be available throughout the weekend.

Live music will fill the air on Saturday, with performances from the Northallerton U3A Music for Fun Group, Rokkon, Supercharged, The Wiskey Band, Wildlife, Fumblehook, and No Direction.

The festival, organised by the village hall committee, takes place at the village hall from 5pm to 11pm on Friday, and from noon to 11pm on Saturday.

Entry costs £4 on Friday and £6 on Saturday, which includes a commemorative glass (while stocks last) and a programme.

The event was first held in 2018 and, except for a two-year pause during the Covid-19 pandemic, has become a much-anticipated annual tradition.

All funds raised go toward the upkeep of Danby Wiske Village Hall.
