Darlington primary is awarded year of occupational therapy
Harrowgate Hill Primary School received the Carolyn McTimoney Occupational Therapy Scholarship Award from Future Steps, which is based in Thornaby.
The award gives the school a full year of professional occupational therapy services, including screening assessments, tailored group and individual occupational therapy interventions, and staff training and ongoing support.
Claire Spooner, of Harrowgate Hill Primary School, said: “In September, we were incredibly fortunate to be selected to receive the Carolyn McTimoney Occupational Therapy Scholarship Award for 2025–2026, delivered by the amazing team at Future Steps, based in Thornaby.
“This scholarship was established by Future Steps in memory of Carolyn, a lifelong friend, colleague, and passionate advocate for children.
“We would love the opportunity to share this positive news, celebrate this achievement, and highlight the importance of early occupational therapy support in schools, as well as the meaningful legacy created in Carolyn’s memory.”
The scholarship is designed to support the needs of pupils by identifying and addressing occupational therapy requirements early in their education.
It is named in memory of Carolyn, a lifelong friend, colleague, and passionate advocate for children.
