Defendants sentenced recently at York Magistrates Court

Christopher Gregory, 35, of St Stephens Road, Acomb, pleaded guilty to two charges of criminal damage at two properties in Acomb.  

He was given a 12-month community order with 20 days’ rehabilitative activities and ordered to pay £905 compensation

Frankie Fletcher, 33, of Hawthorne Road, Auckley, Doncaster, pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman and a man in York.

He was given a 12-month community order with 100 hours’ unpaid work and must pay £200 compensation to the woman, £85 prosecution costs and a £114 statutory surcharge.

Samuel Dale, 22, of Union Terrace, central York, pleaded guilty to driving when twice the drink drive limit, driving without insurance and without a driving licence on the A64. 

He was banned from driving for 46 months, fined £200 and ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs.

Steven Owen, 41, of Swinefleet Road, Goole, pleaded guilty to three charges of stealing sets of gift boxes from Boots in Selby, one set worth £234 and the other two worth £156.

He was given a 12-month community order with 10 days’ rehabilitative activities and 40 hours’ unpaid work and ordered to pay £546 compensation.

Aaron Cook, 44, of Barrowcliff Road, Scarborough, pleaded guilty to stealing meat worth £70 from a Co-op store and theft of gift sets worth £180 from Boots, both from Scarborough, and failure to attend court.

He was jailed for 14 weeks and was ordered to pay £250 compensation.

Jamie Pawsey, 25, of Storey Place, Leeds, pleaded guilty to intentionally strangling a woman in Sherburn-in-Elmet.

He was given a two-year community order with 26 days’ rehabilitative activities and 200 hours’ unpaid work. He must pay £85 prosecution costs and a £114 statutory surcharge.
