Dog-friendly Yorkshire pub that offers a warm welcome

Rover.com has released the best dog-friendly pubs across England after sending its expert Tavern Testers to test out 110 different places.

The Penny Hedge in Whitby was named as the best dog-friendly pub in Yorkshire and has a sizeable beer garden for dogs to enjoy.

What is the Penny Hedge like?

Adem Fehmi, Rover’s Canine Behaviourist expert comments: “For dogs who are comfortable in social settings, a trip to the pub can be a really positive experience, offering plenty of mental stimulation through new sights, sounds and smells, as well as valuable quality time with their owners.

“The best dog-friendly venues understand that a warm welcome goes beyond simply allowing dogs through the door – having access to fresh water, enough space to settle and a calm, comfortable environment can all help dogs feel at ease.

“The Brandling Villa has clearly thought about the experience from a dog’s perspective, while adding plenty of fun touches for owners too, making it a worthy winner this year.”

Described as being “family-friendly”, the Penny Hedge has both indoor and outdoor seating for you to enjoy a drink no matter what the weather is like.

The pub has “expertly crafted ales, carefully selected wines, and a comprehensive range of spirits” on offer.

The Penny Hedge has a continental and cooked breakfast menu for those wanting to get a good start to the day as well as a set lunch menu where you can enjoy three courses for only £19.50.

On its main menu, there is a range of pub classics from Whitby scampi to sausage and mash as well as burgers and steaks.

The Penny Hedge has a rating of 4 out of 5 on Tripadvisor with 729 people leaving reviews after their trip.
