• Firefighters are battling a second major fire at Trafford Park in just over a week, with crews called to Tenax Road at 11.45pm last night.

• The blaze at a waste processing site involved a significant quantity of scrap metal, with huge plumes of smoke and flames visible from the scene. Residents reported hearing sirens and say the area ‘stinks’ this morning after smoke filled the air.

• Ten fire engines from across Greater Manchester attended along with specialist appliances. A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews have been working hard through the night to extinguish the fire, utilising the Scorpion, a turntable ladder, two jets and six ground monitors.”
