Family pay tribute to Eston ‘murder’ victim Peter Phillips

Peter Philips, 47, died after an incident on Ayton Crescent in Eston on Saturday, May 23.

His family has now described him as the “heart and soul” of his family saying they have been ‘robbed of him’.

They said: “Peter had a big family who all loved him, he was the heart and soul of our family. We are devastated at his loss and feel we have been robbed of him.

“We would appreciate privacy to grieve and come to terms with what has happened.”

Emergency services attended the scene on Ayton Crescent following the incident, where Peter later died.

Floral tributes were left at the scene, one of the tributes read: “You will always be with me,” while another added: “I will love you forever.”

Police cordons that were erected on Ayton Crescent, Mansfield Road and an alleyway between both roads but have since been removed.

As police enquiries continue, five people have been arrested in connection with the investigation.

A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, while a 65-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and obstructing a constable.

Two women, aged 67 and 28, were both arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

A 38-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and conspiring to commit murder.

The investigation remains ongoing.
