Fire at former Glasgow nightclub as crews tackle blaze overnight

Emergency crews raced to the incident at Sauchiehall Street and locals roads were closed.

Fire crews are tackling a fire at a former nightclub in Glasgow.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the incident at the three-storey derelict building on Sauchiehall Street. at around 1.36am on Tuesday.

Nine fire appliances, one height appliance, and three specialist resources rushed to the scene at the former Jumpin’ Jaks bar and club.

There are no reports of anyone being injured. Local roads have been locked down and members of the public have been advised to avoid the area.

Police announced that Sauchiehall Street is closed between Pitt Street and Douglas Street.

There are also closures in place on Renfrew Street at Scott Street and Dalhousie Street.

Emergency services remain in attendance this morning.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Road closures are in place due to a fire at a derelict building in the Sauchiehall Street area of Glasgow, which was reported around 2am on Tuesday, 1 September, 2026.

“Sauchiehall Street is closed between Pitt Street and Douglas Street. There are also closures in place on Renfrew Street at Scott Street and Dalhousie Street.

“Emergency services are in attendance. Members of the public are advised to avoid the area at this time.”
