Speaking about the rumours in 2002 when the York-born star was made an honorary Freeman of the City, Dame Judi said: “You tell me who started that rumour!

“I live in a village in the south of England and I am very happy. I would love to live in York, but it isn’t practical.

“But I love coming back. That feeling of coming up and suddenly seeing the Minster, it’s a lovely feeling.” 

Meanwhile, the flat for sale inside Westgate Apartments for £325,000 is an “exceptional” second-floor home, according to Linley and Simpson, which is marketing the property.

Inside, there is a hallway leading to the longue/dining area and modern kitchen.

There are two double bedrooms, with the main bedroom featuring an en-suite shower room and the second bedroom served by the home’s main bathroom.
