Four men killed in Huyton crash named as families pay heartbreaking tributes

Heartfelt tributes were paid this evening by relatives of the four men who died tragically when a black Cupra Formentor careered off the carriageway and collided with a lamppost on Liverpool Road, Huyton, on Friday morning, July 24.

A 27-year-old man, a passenger in the car, was transported to hospital where his condition remains stable. Today, the families of Jack Diggle, 23, Benjamin Dooley, 23, Andrew Roberts, 24, and Craig Shackleton-Brady, 26, all released statements.

In remembrance of Jack, his family described him as “kind, quiet, thoughtful, and loving” and cherished by them with all of their hearts.

The statement continued: “Jack was blessed with a wonderful group of friends, many of whom had been by his side for most of his life. He loved playing football with them and was a proud Everton supporter. He also had a passion for darts, whether he was watching it or playing himself. In fact, he was due to travel to Blackpool today with his friends to watch the darts, something he had been looking forward to.”

Jack’s mother expressed the family’s profound grief, saying: “Jack and I went out for a meal together on Thursday. It was such a lovely time, just mother and son, enjoying each other’s company. Little did I know that it would be the last time we would spend together.”, reports the Liverpool Echo.

“The loss of Jack has left a hole in our lives and in our hearts that can never be filled. We will carry him with us every day and miss him for the rest of our lives. Our Jack, our gentle giant, we love you beyond words and will love you forever. Rest peacefully, son.”

Andrew Roberts’ family say they are at a “complete loss for words” following the devastating news. A tribute read: “Our beautiful Andrew. Your heart is full of kindness and that’s why so many people love you. Our worlds are shattered, and we just keep waiting for you to come through the door saying this is all a dream, but it’s never going to come.

“Life can change in an instant, and Andrew’s passing is a painful reminder of how precious every moment really is. Although his time with us was short the memories he left us will last us all a lifetime. We love you so much our Andrew/ Pip as many knew him. See you soon our boy watches over us forever.”

Andrew’s mum Linda expressed: “My beautiful blue-eyed boy, I can’t believe I’m having to even write this. My sweetheart boy could never do no wrong, my life will never be the same with you not here. My heart will forever be broken. I love you son, from mum.”

Brothers Carl and Thomas shared: “Pip, our baby bro. Even though you were our younger brother we always looked up to you. You will always be the glue to our crazy family. We Love you lil bro.”

Andrew’s sister Chloe and nephews Lewis and Lucas expressed: “Andooooo, my big brother and the best uncle to my boys. My heart is in pieces. Your Lewy adores you more than life itself and you are the best role model to him. You will forever be his favourite uncle, his best friend, and his whole world. What are we going to do without you in our life? We love you forever and always.”

A further tribute arrived from Andrew’s girlfriend Kiera, who wrote: “My Andrew, my best friend. I never imagined I would ever have to live without you. I am so lost now. You were my whole life, and I don’t know how I’m going to cope without you, but I promise I’m going to try stay strong for you and keep you proud of me like you always were. Please know I always love you Andrew.”

Andrew’s father, who shares his name, remarked: “I am heartbroken. You were the world to me son and the best son anyone could ask for. I can’t imagine life without you. Loved beyond words and never to be forgotten.”

Ben Dooley’s mum Kerry said it was her and her son “always”, he was her world and her best friend. Her tribute read: “My life is ripped apart and I don’t know how I will do life without you. We did everything together.

“I’m waiting for you to walk through the door and say “you ok mum” you was the kindest person I knew with a heart of gold. Do anything for anyone. Loved by everyone who met you. I can’t describe how much I will miss you, it hurts so much. Fly high my baby boy. I love you.”

Ben’s sister Demi expressed: “Ben my little brother my one and only sibling, the one who always gave me advice and looked out for me, my heart is broken. Feels like a terrible dream, I miss you so much already, the laughs we had and all the memories I will cherish for ever. love you my brother till we meet again.”

Craig Brady’s relatives have painted a picture of him as a “well-mannered family man” stating: “His love, loyalty, and generosity touched everyone who knew him.

“Craig was a devoted and loving father to his two children who were always at the centre of his world. His pride in being a dad shone through in everything he did, and the love he gave his family will continue to live on in their hearts forever.

“He was also a dedicated brother, always looking out for his sibling and offering support whenever it was needed. To his brother, Craig was more than family – he was an inspiration, someone to admire and look up to, whose strength, character, and kindness set an example every day.”

The heartfelt tribute went on: “Anyone who knew Craig will remember his infectious laugh. It had a way of lighting up a room, bringing smiles to those around him and making even ordinary moments feel special.

“His warmth and sense of humour created memories that friends and family will cherish forever. Craig had a passion for life and for the things he loved. He was a proud Liverpool supporter, following his team with unwavering loyalty and enthusiasm. He enjoyed the excitement of the darts and had a keen interest in cage fighting, embracing the passion and energy that these sports brought.

“Above all, Craig will be remembered for his kind heart, his devotion to his family, and the joy he brought to others. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit lives on through the love he shared, the memories he created, and the countless lives he touched.”
