Freemasons at Wiswell ordered to pay out for unpaid wages

Florence Sabry brought the claim against Kego Limited, the company behind The Freemasons in Wiswell, run by Nick White.

The tribunal found that Kego had made an unauthorised deduction from her wages during a three-week period ending on September 28, 2025.

The judgment was issued under Rule 22 of the Employment Tribunal Procedure Rules 2024 after Kego failed to submit a response by the deadline of May 25, and did not seek an extension of time.

Rule 22 enables a tribunal to decide a claim on the available material where a respondent has not provided a valid response within the required time.

The tribunal ruled that Ms Sabry’s complaint was well-founded and ordered Kego Limited to pay £567.77.

The sum is subject to any applicable tax and National Insurance deductions, for which the claimant is responsible, the judgment states.

In an earlier tribunal case, Kego Limited was ordered to pay former restaurant supervisor D Puttock £1,247.40 after his claim for unpaid holiday pay was upheld.

That hearing concerned Nick White, a director of Kego Limited, who the tribunal heard was the company’s de facto manager at the time.

The judge found that a message sent by Mr White to Mr Puttock was an attempt to “threaten and intimidate” him and interfere with the proceedings.

The tribunal also found that Mr White knew about the hearing but did not attend.

The latest ruling is a further tribunal setback for Kego Limited, the company directed by Mr White, rather than an order made against Mr White personally.

It comes after Mr White himself lost a High Court case earlier this year concerning Acrelands Farm in Grindleton.

District Judge Araba Obodai dismissed his claim for more than £250,000 in alleged renovation costs, found that he had been repaid a separate £45,000 payment made to help the previous tenant leave, and described him in the judgment as an “untruthful witness, caught out by his lies.”
