Passengers are urged to check their flight details and get to the airport with plenty of time

Thousands of holidaymakers are set to jet off from Manchester Airport today as they catch a flight from the UK’s third busiest airports.

It comes after the airport was hit this week with major disruption after a nationwide outage on the Nats air traffic control system. The issue affected 15 airports across the country, including Manchester, which cancelled and delayed hundreds of flights.

Nats confirmed the system had been restored late on Tuesday night, with Manchester Airport able to run its usual service on Wednesday. Dozens of flights were delayed throughout the day however, while British Airways had cancelled some of its flights to Heathrow as it recovered from the air traffic control issue.

Manchester Airport experienced a record-breaking summer period this year, having expected nearly six million passengers to travel through over the summer months.

Today, most flights are expected to run as normal and on time. There are currently no cancellations but a number of flights are delayed. Passengers are urged to keep up to date with their flight information and get to the airport with plenty of time.
