The youngster was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment along with two women aged 44 and 72.
A child has been airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a horror crash near a Scots village.
Emergency services raced to the collision involving a Volkswagen Golf on the A721 on Carnwath Road, east of the junction with Kersewell Avenue, in Carnwath, South Lanarkshire, at 5.40pm on Sunday, August 16.
Crews attended and the 44-year-old female driver and 72-year-old female front seat passenger were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment to serious injuries.
The 10-year-old female rear seat passenger was taken by air ambulance to the same hospital for treatment to what are described as life threatening injuries.
The road was closed to allow enquiries to be carried out and re-opened around 2.15am on Monday.
Sergeant Elaine Scott said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this crash and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash and who hasn’t already spoken to officers to contact us.
“I would also ask anyone who was in the area around the time and who may have dash cam or private CCTV which could assist to get in touch.”
