Girl, 13, rushed to hospital after being hit by car outside school

The road has been closed off as police investigate.

A 13-year-old girl has been rushed to hospital after being struck by a car outside a school in West Lothian.

Emergency services were called to West Main Street in Armadale shortly before 3.40pm on Thursday, September 3, following a report of a crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian.

Police and paramedics attended the scene, with a cordon erected close to Armadale Academy. The road remains closed while officers carry out enquiries into the circumstances of the incident.

The girl was taken by ambulance to the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People in Edinburgh for treatment.

A Scottish Ambulance Service critical care paramedic was also dispatched to the scene.

A West Lothian Council spokesperson said: “We are aware of this incident outside of the school and our thoughts are with the pupil and their family. The school is assisting police with their investigation. It would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”
