The Derby-based Gogglebox family have received an outpouring of support on social media
Gogglebox‘s Siddiqui family have shared a sweet update, with fans rallying round.
The popular family made their debut on the hit Channel 4 reality programme in its inaugural series back in 2013, featuring Baasit alongside his two brothers, Umar and Raza, and their father Sid. Their mother, Nasreen, has remained off-camera throughout.
Based in Derby, the relatives swiftly won over Gogglebox audiences with their witty remarks and entertaining commentary on the latest television programmes and cinema releases.
Over the weekend, the Siddiquis marked a milestone occasion, using their joint Instagram profile to celebrate dad Sid’s 81st birthday.
Accompanied by a collection of family photographs spanning the years, the post read: “Happy Birthday Day aka Sid. Wishing you the most wonderful day! We love you xxx,” reports the Mirror.

Mel, Baasit’s wife and Sid’s daughter-in-law, added her birthday wishes in the comments, saying: “Happy birthday Sid AKA grandad. Have the best day!”
Supporters were also quick to express their affection, with one follower commenting: “Have a Wonderful Happy Birthday, may your day and year be filled with those you love, things that matter and above all joy.”
A second person wrote: “Happy birthday lovely man, enjoy,” whilst a third chimed in: “Happy Birthday Sid. Have a lovely day.”
A fourth admirer echoed similar feelings, posting: “Happy birthday Sid. You are a joy to watch! Wishing you a very special day,” whilst another supporter wrote: “Happy birthday, wonderful man. Hope you have the best day celebrating with your lovely family.”
Sid’s birthday celebrations come after a devastating double loss for the household in 2025. Last month, Baasit’s wife, Mel, shared a collection of photographs from the previous year, which included tributes to their cherished cats who tragically died.
In her post, she penned: “2025 Recap Some highlights of the year… including our two fur angels that left us this year. Heart full of memories made this year.”
Supporters swiftly responded with messages of comfort, with one follower commenting: “Beautiful memories of 2025 here’s to lots more in 2026 xx happy new year to you both and your beautiful family.”
Another remarked: “Such a beautiful family happy new year,” whilst a third contributor noted: “Beautiful memories for a beautiful family.”
The household initially broke the devastating news back in February 2025 via Instagram, disclosing that their cat Rufus had died after more than 15 years.
“Goodnight our beautiful boy Rufus. 15 and a half years wasn’t long enough, you were and always will be a big part of our lives,” they posted, accompanied by touching images of their treasured pet.
