Harrogate Samurai sword brothers put behind bars
Police found the weapons along with live ammunition at the Harrogate house of Charlie Roy Nelson, 31, and his brother Robbie Nelson, 27, who was in prison at the time the home was searched in October 2024.
The gun originally fired blanks, but had been modified. Officers also found cannabis at the address.
Charlie Nelson was arrested at the home and charged with possession of a firearm, ammunition for a firearm, an offensive weapon, and Class B drugs, while Robbie was charged with possession of a firearm.

Charlie Nelson pleaded guilty, and at York Crown Court on February 3, 2025, was jailed for five years.
Robbie also pleaded guilty, and on January 30, was also put behind bars for five years at the same court.
Detective constable Amy Webster Gonzalez, of North Yorkshire Police, said: “Thankfully, gun crime is extremely rare in our area – but we will never be complacent.
“These convictions show that we will do everything we can to take illegal weapons off the streets.”
