Haxby Road in York to close overnight for highway works

Haxby Road will be affected by a temporary traffic restriction that starts on Tuesday, September 29, at 8pm and the restrictions are scheduled to remain in place until Thursday, October 1, at 6am, or until the works are completed, whichever is sooner.

City of York Council said it is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 8pm and 6am each day of the works period.

The road will be closed between its roundabout junction with Haley’s Terrace and the entrance to Nuffield Health York Hospital.

Access for residents and emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works.

The council said an alternative route for diverted vehicles will be clearly signed and will direct road users via Haley’s Terrace, Huntington Road, Monkgate, Lord Mayors Walk, and Clarence Street.

Traffic signs and barriers will be in place to indicate the extent of the prohibition, ensuring that both drivers and pedestrians are aware of the changes.

The council said these measures are in place to ensure that the essential works can be carried out safely and efficiently, minimising disruption where possible.
