Here’s how you pronounce the West Yorkshire town of Keighley
If you are from Yorkshire, it can be quite frustrating when people pronounce different towns and villages incorrectly.
Keighley is a market town found in West Yorkshire and is only a short drive away from the city of Bradford.
If you know someone who struggles with pronouncing places in Yorkshire like Keighley correctly, you might want to send them this guide.
How do you pronounce Keighley?
While it might look easy to pronounce, Keighley often catches people out.
It looks like it is pronounced like Keeley or Kaylee, but if you want to impress the locals, do not say it like that.
It is actually pronounced keeth-lee.
Under a TikTok video talking about places in the UK that everyone pronounces wrong, one commenter mentioned Keighley and said: “Keighley in West Yorkshire always gets me.
“It’s pronounced Keith lee.”
One person replied: “I work in Keighley and it always makes me cringe when someone out of area pronounces it keelee.”
Another person responded: “I came here looking for Keighley.”
