HMP Frankland prisoner gets extra six weeks over officer assault
Edward Little, 25, was convicted of assaulting the prison officer in HMP Frankland in Durham, on January 5.
The court heard that Little, while already serving a sentence at the facility, assaulted the officer has he performed his duties.
Little pleaded not guilty at an earlier hearing on April 9, but was found guilty in his absence at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on August 20.
The offence was treated as serious because it involved the assault of an emergency worker.
The court ruled that only a custodial sentence was appropriate and ordered the six-week sentence to be served consecutively to Little’s current term.
A victim personal statement from the victim was read by the prosecutor in court.
Little was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £154.
