The Welsh sides meet in what promises to be a highly intriguing encounter between Championship returners Cardiff and promotion aimers Wrexham.

The pair haven’t faced each other regularly over recent years, though the Bluebirds were victorious in the previous meeting, which took place during Brian Barry-Murphy’s side’s run to the Carabao Cup quarter finals last season, where they eventually were defeated by Chelsea.

Cardiff look to start their return to the Championship with three points, following an immediate return back to the second tier, after a one-season spell in League One.

The Red Dragons will also be intending on a fast start to their second season in the Championship, with Phil Parkinson’s men hoping they can go one step further than their first attempt at promotion, after being two points off eventual play off winners Hull in the league standings.
