When Valdas Dambrauskas’ men walk out onto the Old Trafford turf, the Azerbaijan Premyer Liqa champions will become the youngest ever side to grace the Champions League, having only been formed in 2017.

United will welcome a return to the Champions League having not played in the competition since late 2023.

Michael Carrick’s side have had a mixed start to the Premier League season, losing to newly promoted Hull City on the opening day.

A thumping of Ipswich 5-2 at Old Trafford was to follow, while the Red Devils surrendered a late goal at Everton last weekend to draw 2-2.

Bruno Fernandes has been the home side’s standout player so far, providing three goals and an assist, and Cameroon forward Bryan Mbuemo has scored two goals so far this term.

Sabah won their domestic league last season, finishing nine points ahead of tital rivals Qarabag. The away side has started the season strongly back in Azerbaijan picking up nine points from three games. They have kept clean sheets in all their games so far.

To get to this stage of the Champions League Sabah have had to battle their way through four qualifying rounds. Players to look out for tonight are last year’s top scorers Joy-Lance Mickels and Veljko Simic, while centre-back Steve Solvet also scored five goals last term.
