Huge blaze rips through Fife home as fire crews battle inferno

Dramatic pictures show thick smoke pouring from a Burntisland home as firefighters tackle a huge blaze tearing through the roof.

A huge fire has ripped through a house in Fife with dramatic pictures showing thick smoke pouring from the property as firefighters battle the blaze.

Emergency crews were called to Aberdour Road in Burntisland after reports of a fire at around 3.30pm on Saturday afternoon.

Footage from the scene shows huge plumes of smoke billowing into the sky, while firefighters can be seen using hoses to douse the flames.

Earlier pictures showed flames bursting from the roof of the property as the fire took hold.

A number of fire engines and crews have been sent to the scene, with firefighters also tackling the blaze from a high-reach appliance. A cordon has been put in place around the area as the emergency response continues.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that six fire appliances and one high-reach appliance had been deployed.

A spokesperson said: “We were called to a fire at a property in Burntisland at 3.31pm today. Operations Control mobilised six fire appliances and one high-reach appliance to the scene. Crews are still on scene, and they are currently engaged in tackling the fire.”

It is not currently known if anyone has been injured or what caused the fire.
