Inside the Himalayan Garden and Sculpture Park near Ripon

When the weather is nice, you might want to get out and enjoy the sun while it is still around, making a trip to a garden a great option.

Found just outside of Ripon, the Himalayan Garden and Sculpture Park has 45 acres of woodland, lakes, and an arboretum to look around.

The garden features “one of the North’s largest collections of rhododendrons, azaleas and magnolias” as well as a range of sculptures to spot.

What is the Himalayan Garden and Sculpture Park like?

There are several spots to visit around the garden, like the arboretum that features over 300 different trees and the thatched wooden summerhouse where you can take a moment to sit and relax.

You might also want to visit the Pagoda that was built in Bali and has “distinctive red legs and oriental features.”

Alongside the parkland filled with beautiful flowers, the garden also has 90 permanent sculptures you can look at, including a “bronze leopard stalking a roe deer” and a “giant floating magnolia,” as well as a mini Stonehenge.

For 2026, 60 temporary pieces for around the UK have been installed around the garden, with many of the pieces up for sale.

After exploring the gardens, you can make a stop at the Garden Tearoom where you can enjoy some lunch alongside a hot drink and sweet treat.

You could also book to have an afternoon tea in the Buddha Garden, where you will get a selection of sandwiches and savoury tarts alongside baked goods and a choice of tea or coffee to have under a Cabana tent.

Next to the Garden Tearoom, you can find the Woodland Playground, which “provides entertainment for children of all ages” and is in the perfect place for you to watch your children while relaxing in the tearoom.

From July to October, the gardens are open from 10am to 4pm on Wednesdays through to Sundays and on Bank Holiday Mondays.

A ticket for the garden costs £16 for adults and £6 for children between the ages of five and 16, with family tickets also available.

“The gardens are beautiful and everywhere you look there are sculptures.

“Not all were to our taste but they all made us think and reflect.

“We had lunch in the cafe and the food was superb and the staff were friendly.

“If we lived in the area I would have willingly upgraded our day ticket to an annual pass.

“Highly recommended!”

Another reviewer said: “The Himalayan Sculpture Park and Gardens are beautiful.

“It’s a bit of a trek along a single-car-width road with plenty of passing places, but it well worth the effort when you get there.

“There are plenty of routes around the gardens, steps and slopes for those less able, with lots of spots to sit, relax and take in the beautiful flora, fauna and sculptures.

“On a warm sunny day the valley looks spectacular, even on wet day there are huts or large trees where you can take shelter.

“The tea room offers freshly baked goods and a wide selection of food and drink.

“This is well worth a visit, but remember you need to book online.”
