Katie Price risking ‘massive fallout’ with family over marriage to Lee Andrews
Katie Price’s loved ones are hoping that her latest relationship is ‘just a stunt’ after marrying a man she apparently knew for just a week.
Late last month the former glamour model, 47, announced her shock engagement to Dubai-based businessman Lee Andrews, 41.
Within days the new couple had tied the knot, despite only having met a few days earlier. But, as Katie put it, their meeting was ‘esoteric’.
However, since then, it’s emerged that Lee’s business Aura Group is a farce, while two of his ex’s have urged Katie to ‘run for the hills’, alleging he was a ‘lying swindler who preys on women’.
It was also revealed that Lee had served prison time for suspected fraud after allegedly forging an ex-girlfriend’s signature to take out a £200,000 mortgage in her name.
Katie’s whirlwind romance is said to have left her family ‘blindsided’, and they are now ‘concerned over how he portrays himself online’.
A few days after the surprise wedding, her sister Sophie then announced their podcast – The Katie Price Show, wouldn’t be dropping an episode as expected.
She also later shared a reel on Instagram, which she captioned: Countryside over Dubai. Always.’
Now, just over a week on from Katie sharing the news of her new relationship to the world, she’s said to be at risk of ‘falling out with her family’.
A source told Metro: ‘Katie’s family have been left in the dark about the marriage and can’t understand how it’s unfolded so quickly. She missed a podcast episode with her sister last week and fans are rallying around Sophie hoping the relationship is just a stunt.
‘Katie risks falling out with her family massively over the marriage – especially with what has been brought to light about Lee’s past relationships.’
Born Katrina Amy Alexandra Alexis Infield in Brighton in 1978, Katie’s father Ray Infield left the family when she was four.
Her mum Amy went on to marry builder Paul Price in 1988, later welcoming son Daniel and daughter Sophie.
Katie dropped her birth father’s surname when she was 17 and took on the name of her step-father.
Although Katie’s family are yet to comment publicly on her recent marriage, when announcing the news their podcast would be missing an episode, Sophie explained: ‘Hi guys, how are you all? I know you’ve all been chomping at the bit to find out what has been going on. All our DMs have been going off.’
Hinting at behind-the-scenes goings-on, she continued: ‘Let’s just say, it’s been one hell of a week. We have done over 100 episodes of the podcast now, which sounds absolutely nuts when it’s just me and Kate doing our normal b******s chat.’
She also took a moment to acknowledge that the podcast was about to surpass a million listeners.
‘We will back next week, as normal, and we will be able to update you guys on what’s been going on,’ Sophie then promised. ‘It will be business as usual.’
Signing off with a laugh she finished: ‘But for this week, we are – oh God, what are we not doing this week? Have a good weekend everyone.’
Last week it was also reported that Katie now believes she may have made a ‘huge mistake’ marrying Lee.
‘Katie has been inundated with direct messages from her new husband’s former girlfriends warning her what he is really like – and pleading with her to dump him,’ a source has told the Daily Mail.
‘He is not a nice man. These women have been doing everything they can to make her see sense. They have no ulterior motive other than to try and stop her going through what they went through. At first, she ignored them and wrote them off as being bitter and jealous.
‘But now she is actually starting to believe the women because they have so much information and details documenting what he did to them. And even though she’s starting to suspect that she’s made a huge mistake by marrying a man she didn’t even know, she’s not admitting it to those closest to her.’
The source added: ‘She is very, very stubborn like that.’
Meanwhile her best friend Kerry Katona called Katie ‘bonkers’. ‘As Katie’s friend I absolutely love and support her no matter what she does – but she’s absolutely bonkers. Kate just wants to be loved,’ she wrote in a column.
‘But, for me personally, I wouldn’t have got married. When I do get proposed to I want to make sure it’s forever.’
Her ex-boyfriend JJ Slater, 33, also claimed that he believes the new couple actually met six months ago while they were still together. While Katie said recently that they broke up ‘a few months ago’, JJ has said their relationship ended less than a month ago.
