An ex-girlfriend of King Charles, once dubbed his “soulmate”, has died.
Davina Sheffield, 75, passed away on September 2 following a short illness.
Her death was confirmed by her three son, Thomas, William and Henry, with her family saying a celebration of life service will be held on November 2.
Davina and Charles first started dating in 1976 and she made such an impression that she was tipped to be the future Queen. Royal watchers dubbed her Charles’ “soulmate” at the time, with the loved up couple often seen attending events together, the Mirror reports.
The then Prince even brought Davina as his guest to a wedding once and took her on a trip to Balmoral to meet the Royal Family, including the Queen Mother.
She was also spotted sitting with Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip at an equestrian event.
The romance was “killed stone dead” after Davina’s ex-boyfriend, powerboat racer James Beard, revealed they had previously lived in a “love nest”.
As tradition at the time dictated that the heir to the throne needed to find an “unblemished” bride, the relationship soon ended.
Charles then married Diana in 1981, with Davina marrying Jonathan Morley five months later the same year.
Davina was the granddaughter of the first Lor McGowan, who had chaired Imperial Chemical Industries.
She was also the cousin of Samantha Cameron, David Cameron’s wife.
