The man had fallen whilst walking on the shoreline, striking a rock and subsequently lost consciousness.
A man has been rescued by an lifeboat crew after being knocked unconscious following a fall where he hit a rock at Loch Lomond.
The Loch Lomond Rescue Boat rushed to the shoreline at Cashel Campsite around 3.04pm. An alarm was raised to the team by Police Scotland on request from the Scottish Ambulance Service.
Medics were informed that a man had fallen on the shoreline and was unconscious. Upon attendance, it was established that the man had fallen whilst walking on the shoreline, striking a rock and subsequently lost consciousness.
The attending team carried out assessments and pain relief was administered to his lower back. As a result of his location, the rescue crew evacuated the male by boat to Duncan Mills Memorial Slipway.
The man was handed over to Scottish Ambulance Service colleagues for onward transport to hospital. Images from the scene, showed a casualty being stretchered over by paramedics.
A statement from Loch Lomond Rescue Boat read: “Loch Lomond Rescue Boat were tasked today at 15:04 by Police Scotland at the request of the Scottish Ambulance Service to assist with reports of a male who had fallen on the shoreline at Cashel Campsite and was unconscious.
“Our volunteer crew launched immediately and, once on scene, began an assessment of the male casualty who had fallen whilst walking on the shoreline, striking a rock and subsequently losing consciousness.
“Following sets of observations & assessment by our crew, the casualty was administered pain relief for lower back pain.
“Due to the location, it was deemed most appropriate to evacuate the casualty by boat back to Duncan Mills Memorial Slipway, where he was handed over to Scottish Ambulance Service colleagues for onward transport to hospital.
“Many thanks to the bystanders at the campsite for calling 999, keeping the casualty warm, and remaining with him until help arrived.”
