Liverpool are all smiles as they enter the international break
Liverpool’s narrow 1-0 victory over Bournemouth will have left Andoni Iraola feeling positive about the start to his stint in charge. The Reds rose to sixth in the Premier League table after Sunday’s win and remain one of just five unbeaten teams in the top flight.
The Spaniard has led Liverpool to two wins and three draws thus far, while defeating Atletico Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League and Carabao Cup, respectively.
The first international break of the campaign is now underway and Iraola has already been tipped to add to his squad by signing former favourites of his. Meanwhile, Bradley Barcola has been given a message from a Premier League icon.

Iraola tipped to sign former stars
Jamie Carragher talked up the suggestion of Iraola raiding former club Bournemouth to sign Alex Scott and Rayan. The Spaniard enjoyed an impressive three-year stint on the south coast and led the club to European qualification last season for the first time, with the Cherries duo playing a huge role in the achievement.
Scott and Rayan were both linked with moves away in the summer, with the Englishman reportedly subject to interest from Manchester United and Arsenal. The Brazil international had been touted as a possible replacement for Mohamed Salah at Anfield, but both remained at the Vitality Stadium.
Carragher suggested on Sky Sports that Iraola may use his connection to prise them away from Bournemouth. The Reds legend said of Scott: “I think he’s a wonderful player. There was a lot of interest in him in the summer and because Liverpool have a former Bournemouth manager, you almost think: will there be a link or will there be a couple of players moving that way?
“I thought Rayan was fantastic last season as well. It will have been really good for him to get a goal in midweek because he probably hasn’t been himself at the start of the season. There are some fantastic players here at Bournemouth.”
Shearer praises Barcola
Bradley Barcola became Liverpool’s second-most expensive player ever last month when signing from Paris Saint-Germain in a £123million deal. The 23-year-old has yet to get off the mark in terms of goals and assists, but that hasn’t stopped Alan Shearer from predicting Barcola to soon become a fan favourite at Anfield.
The Frenchman has started the last two Premier League games and has earned plaudits from the Newcastle icon, who believes he can become a “complete player” – but only if he adds more goals to his game. He recently told Betfair: “When Barcola started last week against Fulham, I thought he was brilliant.

“There is no doubt he’s got huge ability. He needs to add more goals to his game to be complete. But in terms of excitement and getting people off their seat, he’ll do that in abundance.”
