The North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said it is tackling a major blaze on Conwy Mountain, in the steep Sychnant Pass area of the hillside.

The fire service is encouraging residents nearby to close all their windows and doors and to steer clear of the area.

According to North Wales Live, people say they can smell the blaze from as far as Bangor and Anglesey as the wind continues to blow smoke across the region.

It is believed the blaze has been fuelled by the scorching heatwave and dry vegetation.
