Man and woman arrested after attempted ATM theft in south Belfast

Two people have been arrested following a reported attempted ATM theft in south Belfast.

Police received a report shortly after 4am this morning, Monday 13 th July, that an attempt had been made to gain access to an ATM machine in the Upper Lisburn Road area of Finaghy.

Damage was noted to the ATM but nothing was taken.

A man, aged in his 50s, and a woman aged in her 40s have been arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including attempted burglary, going equipped for burglary and drugs offences. They both remain in custody at this time. A PSNI spokesperson said: “An investigation is underway and anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the Upper Lisburn Road area in the early hours of Monday morning, or who may have CCTV, dash-cam or other footage, is asked to contact police using our witness appeal form at https://reporting.psni.police.uk/appeals quoting 280 of 13/07/26 or call us on 101.
