Man arrested over ‘life-changing’ Walkden stabbing

Greater Manchester Police were called to an address on Manchester Road at around 8.15am on Friday, September 4, following reports of a stabbing.

Officers attended and found a man in his late 20s with injuries consistent with a stabbing.

He was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police have now confirmed that while the victim’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, they have been assessed as life-changing.

In an update, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “The victim has sustained life-changing injuries, although these are not believed to be life-threatening.

“One man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault.”

The arrested man remains in police custody for questioning.

Emergency services remained at the scene throughout much of Friday as investigators carried out enquiries and gathered evidence.

Detectives previously said they did not believe anyone else had been involved in the incident.
