Man in 40s dies as tragic police-led incident forces M60 to close

A man has died following an incident on the M60 in Greater Manchester – all traffic was stopped between junction 10 (Trafford Park) and 11 (Eccles) clockwise

A man in his 40s has died following an incident on the M60 in Greater Manchester.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said officers were called to reports of concern for a person’s welfare on the motorway near the Trafford Centre.

All traffic was stopped on the clockwise carriageway between junctions 10 at Urmston and 11 at Eccles at around 7.30am on Wednesday. A large emergency services response was seen at the scene, including multiple ambulances.

In an update issued this afternoon, GMP confirmed a man in his 40s had sadly died following the incident. A report will be prepared for the coroner.

The motorway remained closed for around an hour while police carried out enquiries, the Manchester Evening News reports.
