Man reported in River Croal sparks emergency response
Fire officers were called at around 7.30pm on Wednesday, September 9, following reports of a man in the River Croal near Hacken Bridge in Darcy Lever.
Crews from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended the area around Smiths Road and Hacken Bridge Road.
However, no person was located during the response.
GMFRS confirmed its services had been called out following the reports, but agencies were quickly stood down after searches failed to locate anyone in the water.
The incident came after residents reported seeing a man enter the river, prompting the emergency response.
No further details about the reported sighting have been released.
