Man who died in fatal Fife motorbike crash named by police

Scott Brough, 47, died following a crash between a motorbike and a van on Friday, May 22.

A motorcyclist who died following a fatal crash with a van has been named by police. Scott Brough, 47, has been described as a “passionate” biker by his “absolutely heartbroken” family.

Emergency services were called to the A911 near to the junction with the B9130 for Markinch at around 1pm on Friday, May 22 following a crash between a BMW S1000 motorbike and a white Mercedes Citan van.

Scott, the rider of the motorbike, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported following the incident.

Paying tribute to him in a statement released by police, Scott’s family said: “We are absolutely heartbroken at the loss of Scott. He meant the world to us and his children, and we are struggling to come to terms with this devastating tragedy.

“Scott loved riding his motorbike. It was something he was truly passionate about and brought him so much happiness.

“We would like to express our sincere thanks to the police officers who have supported us through this incredibly difficult time. Their kindness, compassion and professionalism have been a great source of comfort, and we are deeply grateful for everything they have done.

“We have been overwhelmed by the messages of support and condolences we have received, and we thank everyone for their kindness.

“As a family, we have always been very private people and would like to remain that way. We respectfully ask that our privacy is respected as we grieve, support one another, and remember Scott.”

Enquires into the crash are ongoing and police are continuing to appeal for information which may help.

Sergeant Chris Anderson, of Police Scotland‘s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with Scott’s family and friends during this upsetting time.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and we would appeal to anyone with any information to come forward.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “The crash happened around 1pm on Friday, May 22, near the junction with the B9130 for Markinch and involved a white Mercedes Citan van and a BMW S1000 motorcycle.

“Emergency services attended and the rider of the motorcycle, a 47 year-old man, died at the scene. He can be named as Scott Brough
