Manchester Airport flights diversion after reported trespass

Seven of the flights were diverted, and 17 were held in the skies, after the incident is at 11.21pm on Friday, August 21, when the airfield had to be closed for 15 minutes while police arrested the man.

Greater Manchester Police said: “We responded to reports of male who had been located air-side at Manchester Airport.

“This appears to be mental-health related and the man has been taken to hospital for assessment.”

Part of an airfield fence, which was damaged, is understood to have been fixed.

Online platform Flightradar 24 showed several flights had to be rerouted while the issue was dealt with, including some flights bound for Manchester being diverted to airports like Birmingham and East Midlands.
