McDonald’s Thornaby share refurb update ahead of reopening
The fast-food chain prepares to reopen its doors in just over a week.
The drive-thru restaurant on Allensway in Thornaby has been closed since the start of August while work takes place on a full renovation of the site.
Now, with the reopening date fast approaching, McDonald’s has shared a video showing the transformation underway inside the Teesside restaurant and reminded customers that they won’t have to wait too much longer.

In a social media post, the company said: “Just a friendly reminder, Thornaby!
“Your local McDonald’s is having a well-earned glow up and will reopen, better than ever, at 11am on 2nd September.”
While McDonald’s has not revealed every detail of the project, footage shared online shows construction work taking place throughout the restaurant as staff prepare to return.
Stockton Council approved plans for the site, including a new drive-thru order display canopy, alterations to the shop front, doors and glazing, as well as new digital display boards and internal signage.
While the final renovations are being completed, McDonald’s says customers can continue to enjoy their favourite menu items at its nearby Teesside Park and Yarm Road sites.
The restaurant, which opened in 2014, is expected to welcome customers back from 11am on Wednesday, September 2, after around a month of refurbishment work.
