Mis-Teeq Star Sabrina Washington Speaks Out Amid ‘Split’ Drama

Former Mis-Teeq singer Sabrina Washington has denied issuing a press release claiming the group had disbanded without consulting her bandmates.

Earlier this month, Sabrina reunited with fellow Mis-Teeq stars Alesha Dixon and Su-Elise Nash for a one-off show at London’s Wembley Arena to commemorate 25 years since the release of their debut album.

Mis-Teeq’s concert was well-received by critics and fans, but just one week later, Sabrina made it clear that Mis-Teeq would not be moving forward as a band when she announced a string of solo shows for 2026.

“There aren’t any further Mis-Teeq dates or new music planned and we’ve all gone back to doing our own things now. For me, though, I wasn’t ready for the celebration to end there,” she told The Sun, who published her comments under the headline “Mis-Teeq SPLIT just a week after reunion concert”.

Shortly afterwards, Su-Elise issued a statement of her own, claiming that Mis-Teeq’s ending was “news to me”.

“After the incredible response to our sold-out Wembley Arena show, I genuinely believed these were opportunities we were all excited about and hopefully saying YES to today as Mis-Teeq!” she claimed. “So to find out that a press release went out [to the media] today saying ‘Mis-Teeq have split’ has taken me by surprise.”

Sabrina addressed the speculation during an interview with Thursday’s Good Morning Britain, insisting she’d not used the word “split” to describe Mis-Teeq “in any way, shape or form”.

“That has not come from me,” she claimed. “What’s happened is this – we had an amazing show for our anniversary, which was filled with love and filled with energy, and there was nothing else planned. There has been nothing else planned after that.

“So, I would never say no to another Mis-teeq show ever – because I’ve never, ever said no to a Mis-Teeq show. I love the girls, so it may still be something that can happen, because I’ve never said no, and I’ve never said ‘split’.”

“Remember, we got together for a ‘one night stand’ for our 25th anniversary,” she continued. “It was only ever one night. I’m not saying no other any [more shows].”

Host Tom Swarbrick then read out a statement from a Mis-Teeq rep, which read: “Sabrina and her team issued a press release to media saying ‘Mis-Teeq split’ and announcing her solo tour, without telling Alesha, Su-Elise or anyone on the Mis-Teeq team.”

“Wrong,” Sabrina responded. “That’s what I’m saying. I didn’t do a press release at all.

“As I said, I’ve not said anything about the girls and the group. I don’t do that. Sabrina doesn’t talk, she’s a person that doesn’t really talk.”

She then claimed to have had a “talk with Alesha” who told her “congratulations on your shows”, while pointing out she’d not “heard from Su-Elise”, suggesting this could be because she’s now based in Australia and therefore they’re “not always communicating at the same time”.

“I’ve said nothing on top of nothing on top of more nothing,” she concluded. “I love the girls, we have sisterly love, and that’s how it’s always been and always will be. So, you never know what may come up.”

HuffPost UK contacted Alesha Dixon’s team for comment earlier this week, but did not receive a response.

During their original run, Mis-Teeq racked up a string of top 10 hits, including All I Want, One Night Stand, Can’t Get It Back and Scandalous.

The trio went their separate ways in the mid-2000s after their record label, Telstar Records, entered bankruptcy proceedings.
