Murder arrest after man, 48, found dead in Royton, Oldham
Emergency services were called to reports of a concern for welfare at an address on Higginshaw Lane at around 10.23am on March 8.
Officers attended alongside paramedics, but the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
A 49-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning.
Detectives say enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and all lines of enquiry remain open at this early stage.
Detective Inspector Rachel Smith, from Greater Manchester Police’s Major Incident Team, said: “Our thoughts remain with the deceased’s loved ones.
“We understand the concern this incident may cause across the local community, but I would like to reassure you that we believe this to be an isolated incident that poses no wider threat to the public.
“We are open to all lines of enquiry at this early stage of the investigation, and we are conducting extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident.
“You will notice an increased presence in the area whilst we conduct enquiries.”
