Need to know: Man dies after balcony fall in Salford as murder investigation launched
A man in his 20s has died after falling from a balcony at a block of flats in Salford, prompting Greater Manchester Police to launch a murder investigation.
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with his death following the incident on Saturday (August 29). The victim died from his injuries on Saturday night and has not been named.
One man in his 20s was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder but has now been re-arrested on suspicion of murder. A second man has also been arrested on suspicion of murder.
“They both remain in police custody for questioning,” said a police spokesperson. The incident occurred at a block of flats on Southern Street, off Liverpool Street in Langworthy, Salford.
Residents rushed to help the man who fell and performed CPR on him before emergency services arrived. Police believe this is an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public.
Chief Inspector Lee Gridley said: “We understand that incidents of this nature may cause concern within the community; however, we believe this is an isolated incident and that there is no wider risk to the public.”
Detectives are working around the clock to establish the full circumstances, with a post-mortem examination taking place to determine the cause of death. Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with CCTV, Ring doorbell or dashcam footage to contact them on 101.
