An eagerly anticipated buffet restaurant that is set to open in Peterborough city centre in the coming months has applied for a licence to sell alcohol and provide entertainment.

Umami World Kitchen – which is also looking to open outlets in Leicester, Colchester and Swansea – will be sited on the second floor of Queensgate Shopping Centre, near the Putt and Play mini golf and amusements centre.

In its application to Peterborough City Council, parent company Peterborough QG Capital Ltd requested permission to sell alcohol on and off the premises between midday and midnight from Monday to Saturday, and from midday to 11pm on Sundays.

In addition, the submission also requested a licence to offer late-night refreshment and to provide “regulated entertainment” between the hours of 11pm and midnight, Monday to Saturday.

With well-established restaurants in Blackpool and Telford, Umami World Kitchen, is an increasingly popular player in the concept of world buffet restaurant cuisine.

Their restaurants host buffet stations covering World of Asia (Chinese and Japanese regional dishes); House of Spice (featuring South East Asian favourites); Continental (pasta dishes and wood-fired oven pizzas), and carvery, where you’ll find roast turkey, lamb and beef with all the trimmings.
