No trains to stop at Salford Central due to engineering work
Vital engineering work in the Salford area this weekend will mean no trains will call at Salford Central station on Saturday 27 or Sunday 28 June.
Trains will be able to pass through the station and Salford Crescent will remain open.
Next week, engineering teams will also be completing important work on signalling equipment in the Monsall area between Monday 29 June and Friday 3 July.
It comes ahead of the construction of a new turnback on the railway outside of Manchester Victoria, which will give train operators more flexibility and free up space for trains at the station.
During the work, replacement buses will run between Rochdale and Manchester Victoria.
There will also be amended services to both destinations from a number of other stations.
Lorna Samways, senior sponsor for Network Rail, said: “Creating a new turnback outside Manchester Victoria will allow more flexibility and reduce congestion at the station.
“We would like to thank passengers travelling over the next week for their patience. They should plan their journeys ahead of time and check with their train operator or on the National Rail Enquiries website for the latest service information.”
Stuart Taylor, Northern’s director of service delivery in Greater Manchester, said: “We’re advising customers to check before they travel as there will be some disruption while these essential engineering works are taking place.
“Rail replacement buses will run between Rochdale and Manchester Victoria and a number of other services will be amended to run at different times. We will be working hard to ensure our customers can get where they need to go.”
