One person taken to hospital after crash in Shildon

Emergency services were called to an area near Eldon Bank at 9.40am this morning (July 20).

Two ambulance crews were dispatched, and the air ambulance was called for backup.

A Great North Air Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “Our critical care team was activated at 10.08am to reports of a road traffic collision in Shildon.

“We had two paramedics and a doctor on board our aircraft and they arrived on scene at 10.17am.

“Our team worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) to assess and treat a patient.”

A NEAS spokesperson said: “We were called to a person injured in Shildon at 9.40am on July 20.

“We dispatched two ambulance crews and requested support from the air ambulance. One patient was taken to James Cook University Hospital.”
