One-year-old boy is rushed to hospital after ‘dog lunged at pushchair and attacked him’: Police release CCTV of woman

A one-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after suffering puncture wounds and injuries to his face after a dog allegedly lunged at his pushchair and bit his face.

Officers rushed to Shirley Precinct in Southampton at around 3.20pm after reports that a one-year-old boy had been bitten by a dog.

The dog is said to have lunged at the pushchair, where its teeth made contact with the boy’s face.

The boy suffered two small puncture wounds and grazes to his face, and was taken to hospital.

Police have released CCTV images of a woman, who they would like to speak to as part of their investigation, and a dog believed to be a German Shepherd.

The woman is described as white, 5ft 7ins tall, and of large build.

Meanwhile, the dog is said to have been wearing a soft mesh-style muzzle.

A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary statement said: ‘Since this was reported to us, officers have been carrying out enquiries and are working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

‘We are hoping to speak with a woman, who may have information which could help with our enquiries.

‘She has been described as: White, 5ft 7ins tall, of large build. The dog, believed to be a German Shepherd, was wearing a soft mesh-style muzzle.
