A member of the congregation died after suffering a serious medical emergency during a service at Holy Trinity Church in Dunfermline on Sunday morning.
A person has died at a church in Fife after suffering a medical emergency during a service this morning.
Holy Trinity Dunfermline confirmed that a member of its congregation became seriously unwell during the Sunday morning service, which starts at 11am.
Despite the “swift arrival and intervention” of paramedics, the person sadly died. A picture from East Port shows three police vehicles and two ambulances outside the Scottish Episcopal Church.
The church service was cancelled following the incident.
In a post on social media, the church said: “As people may have seen from speculation and pictures already circulating on social media, and from the sudden cancellation of our service this morning, unfortunately a member of our congregation this morning suffered a serious medical emergency, and subsequently passed away, despite the swift arrival and intervention from paramedics.”
They thanked the multiple paramedic teams and police officers who attended, as well as members of the congregation who helped before emergency crews arrived and supported those involved.
The church added: “We would ask for prayers for all of those involved, and particularly the family and friends of the person who has passed away. May they rest in peace and rise in glory.”
