Police hunt suspect after car targeted in Antrim ‘petrol bomb attack’

It is believed the suspect was wearing all dark clothing with a face covering and fled the scene on foot.

Police are hunting a suspect after a suspected petrol bomb attack on a car in Antrim on Sunday evening, September 13.

The PSNI is appealing for information and witnesses following the reported arson attack shortly before midnight in the Barra Street area of the town. Officers attended the scene, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, who extinguished the fire.

It is believed the suspect was wearing all dark clothing with a face covering and fled the scene on foot in the direction of the Durnish Road, Antrim. A PSNI spokesperson said on Monday morning: “Thankfully, there were no reports of any injuries, although extensive damage was caused to the vehicle. This was a reckless act which we’re treating as deliberate ignition and our enquiries remain ongoing to establish the circumstances. “We would ask anyone who might have any information which could assist to contact police using our witness appeal form at https://reporting.psni.police.uk/appeals quoting 1686 of 13/09/26 or call us on 101.
